In between the occasional giggle from tickled toes, I asked Marni why she feels strongly about her lifestyle being eco-friendly and sustainable?
I want to reduce my impact on the planet as much as possible. And by living a plant powered lifestyle I can be sure my consumption habits limit my footprint. Not only do I care about my impact on the environment, but I also care about what goes on my body from beauty care to my clothing.
How would eating plants limit your ecological footprint?
When you go to eat something, you have to realize the process that the food went through to get into your hands from the farm to your home. If you take a moment to think about it, a great deal of resources, like land, water and oil are all required in the process of raising animals for food. From the machines used to raise & process the animals in a factory farm to the transportation required to distribute them all over the world. Not to mention the destruction of wildlife habitats and the pollution of our environment.
Wow. It really is important to be conscious consumer and to understand the bigger picture around what goes on your plate.
What about your skin? Why do you need to consider what goes on your body?
Your skin absorbs everything. What you put on it goes straight into the bloodstream, so it is just as important to consider what lotions, creams & clothing you use, as it is to be conscious of what you put in your mouth. If you care enough to try and eat organic to reduce the number of chemicals you consume, you should also do the same for your skincare. Feed your skin, as you would feed your belly.
Looking down at my toes, I thought, “I have pretty cute feet. I wouldn’t want them consuming a bunch of chemicals or having their footprint be a part of a bigger problem.”
